Season: The Irish For Hope

Irish Film London presents Dating Amber as part of a special screening series at The Rio, Dalston.

David Freyne’s second feature, after the thought-provoking zombie movie THE CURED, is a powerful exploration of teenage sexual identity which transcends its period setting. LGBTQ+ teens, Amber and Eddie are having a hard time at school from homophobic bullies in 1990s Ireland. They form a secret alliance and agree to date  to stave off the aggression as they dream of their futures. Lead actors Fionn O’Shea (Normal People) and Lola Petticrew (Bloodlands) demonstrate the depth of their off-screen friendship in a pair of roles seemingly custom built for them.

Part of “The Irish for Hope”; a series of screenings from Irish Film London made possible with funding from Film Feels Hopeful, a UK-wide cinema season, supported by the National Lottery and BFI Film Audience Network. Explore all films and events at filmfeels.co.uk
