Fluid dynamics are completely predictable. Physics does not commit accidents. Gravity, current speed, and hydraulic force follow strict mathematical laws every second of every day. When five human beings drown in a river, calling it an "apparent accident" absolves the real culprits: systemic public illiteracy regarding moving water, inadequate infrastructure warnings, and a media narrative that treats lethal river mechanics like bad weather.

Stop treating river drownings like lightning strikes. Until we dismantle the myths surrounding open-water safety, people will keep dying in the exact same spots for the exact same reasons.

The Illusion of Calm Water

Most people judge the danger of a water body by its surface appearance. That single cognitive error accounts for a massive percentage of inland drowning deaths.

A river surface can look smooth, slow, and inviting while hiding a lethal torrent beneath. Water velocity does not scale linearly in terms of force; it scales exponentially. Double the speed of a river current, and the force exerted against your legs increases fourfold.

Stop Blaming Fate
